Aprilia Tuono 457: What’s Different From The Aprilia RS 457 | BikeDekho TechTricks365

Looks, comfort, bigger sprocket & more – here is how it stands out

The new Aprilia Tuono 457 has been launched in India at Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The naked Italian bike shares the same engine, features and underpinnings with its faired sibling, the Aprilia RS 457, but the Tuono 457 also differs in many ways. We explain what makes the Tuono stand apart:

Design

With the Tuono 457, Aprilia decided to go with an all-new design, unlike any other bike in the manufacturer’s lineup. The Aprilia Tuono 457 comes with a typical streetfighter design. It gets a muscular fuel tank with a slightly tweaked design and sleek fuel tank extensions. Being a naked bike, it misses out on a windscreen or visor.

On the other hand, the Aprilia RS 457 is a fully faired sport bike, which is inspired by the bigger capacity of Aprilia RS 660 and RSV4. It comes with sharp and aggressive looks and the bulky fairings on both sides add to its sport appeal. The bike also has a typical sportbike visor to tuck down and deflect the wind.

Better Low-end Acceleration

The Aprilia Tuono 457 and the RS 457 are powered by the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the Aprilia RS 457 that makes a peak output of 47.6PS at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Aprilia has equipped the Tuono 457 with a bigger 44-teeth rear sprocket, which has an extra tooth as compared to the RS 457. This helps deliver better acceleration at lower RPM levels and better low-end torque, making it easier to ride on the streets and city traffic.

Ergonomics & Comfort

The Tuono 457 also has a taller and easy-to-reach single-piece handlebar which offers an upright and relaxed riding posture, contributing to its everyday ridability. Whereas, the RS 457, which has low-mounted clip-on handlebars, which requires you to sit in a sporty posture with a forward lean that can be uncomfortable to ride in the city, but ideal for the race track.

Price

Coming to the price, the Aprilia Tuono 457 is priced at Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs 25,000 cheaper than the Aprilia RS 457 that costs Rs 4,20,000 (both prices ex-showroom).
