New Italian streetfighter’s features compared with its Japanese counterpart, which one will come out on top?
Aprilia India recently launched the Tuono 457, which is the street fighter version of the RS 457. Its closest competitor is the Yamaha MT-03. Lets compare the features which these street fighters offer.
Instrument Console
The Aprilia Tuono 457 gets a 5-inch TFT display as seen on the RS 457. This display shows speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, tripmeter, service reminder, fuel indicator, date, time and other essential readouts. It also gets smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth along with turn-by-turn navigation and SMS and call alerts.
The Yamaha MT-03 on the other hand, appears to be rather basic. It gets a conventional LCD screen which shows all essential readouts like the ones mentioned above. Even in 2025, the MT-03 does not get modern features like smartphone connectivity or turn-by-turn navigation.
Rider Aids
In terms of rider aids, the Aprilia Tuono 457 comes loaded with switchable ABS along and 3 levels of traction control. Both features make this performance motorcycle a lot safer to ride. The Tuono 457 also gets 3 ride modes: Eco, Sport and Rain. These ride modes do not change the peak power output but alters the throttle response accordingly. The motorcycle also gets an optional bi-directional quickshifter, which should have been a standard feature.
The Yamaha MT-03 gets a non-switchable dual-channel ABS. It does not even get a traction control system. The MT-03 is a pretty basic motorcycle even in terms of rider aids and there are no ride modes too.
Other features
Other crucial features for the Aprilia Tuono 457 include an all-LED lighting setup. The Tuono also gets adjustable suspension at both ends (preload only). The Yamaha MT-03 gets an all LED headlight and taillight but still uses halogen indicators.
BikeDekho Says
In a features comparison, the Aprilia Tuono 457 leaves the Yamaha MT-03 behind and that too by a huge margin.
The Aprilia Tuono 457 comes equipped with all the features which makes the motorcycle a lot more appealing in today’s day and age. The quickshifter being available as an accessory is the only downside here but at least the feature is available on the bike in some capacity. At a price of Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Tuono is one of the best motorcycles to consider.
The Yamaha MT-03 we get in India is a much older variant which has already been on sale for a long time outside the country. The streetfighter is several years behind in terms of features. Adding to this, the Rs 3.49 lakh rupee price tag is still steep for what it offers.
