AirPods Pro are getting high-quality audio & camera remote features
Starting in iOS 26, Apple is introducing new features to AirPods that will make it easier for content creators to capture high-quality audio and remotely control video recording.
In an update released later this year, the Cupertino tech giant is adding new content creator-focused features to AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2. The features are tailored toward those making videos and other content on the go.
For example, AirPods users will be able to capture studio-quality audio recording with a new Voice Isolation feature that takes advantage of the H2 chipset, beamforming microphones, and computational audio. According to Apple, the feature will allow for “more natural vocal texture and clarity” across apps like FaceTime, Voice Memos, and third-party apps with CallKit functionality.
Additionally, Apple is also adding a new camera remote feature that will allow users to take a photo, or stop and start a video recording, from their AirPods. By pressing and holding the AirPods stem, users can easily control photos or videos from a distance, with Apple adding that the feature will perform in sync with a musical track if one is playing.
The features will become available to developers for testing starting today. They’ll be released to the general public through a beta next month, and to all devices in the fall.
