After India head coach Gautam Gambhir, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami became the latest high-profile cricketer to receive a death threat via email. The development came in just before the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Delhi Capitals. Shami is currently playing for SRH in IPL 2025.
Based on a Dainik Jagran report, Shami immediately informed about the mail to his brother Haseeb Ahmed. The report stated that the sender of the mail has been identified as Rajput Sindar, who also demanded a ransom of ₹1 crore from the India cricketer.
It has also been learnt that Haseeb has already reached out to Amroha police with a written application to launch an investigation into the matter. An FIR has been registered and Amroha SP has directed the Cyber Cell to probe the matter.

In IPL 2025, Shami has been off-colour for his new team SRH. In nine games, Shami managed just six wickets.
