Ducati has officially stopped selling the Scrambler 1100 around the world. The bike is known for its retro charm and powerful engine, but has been discontinued due to strict Euro 5+ emission rules starting in 2025.
Moreover, Ducati’s decision is also part of its regular product updates. While the smaller Scrambler models continue to perform well, the 1100 could not meet sales expectations. Here’s a quick look at why this bike is being shelved and what lies ahead.
End of the Road for the Scrambler 1100
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 was launched in India in 2018. It used a 1079cc L-twin engine. This engine, first used in 2009, was upgraded with modern tech like ride-by-wire. Furthermore, it had oil cooling and multiple riding modes for a smoother ride.
However, this engine still could not meet the upcoming Euro 5+ norms. This forced Ducati to retire the model by the end of 2024. Ducati has now removed the bike from its official websites, including India.
High Price and Niche Appeal Hurt Sales
The Scrambler 1100 came in three versions: Dark Pro, Sport Pro, and Tribute Pro. The base Dark Pro started at Rs 13.40 lakh. The Sport Pro is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and features premium components, including Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes.
Despite these features, the 1100 didn’t sell well. At this price point, buyers had many other exciting options. Moreover, the bike’s power output of 84.48 hp didn’t match its price tag.
What’s Next for Ducati Scrambler Fans?
Ducati has not yet announced a replacement for the 1100. But it is focusing on its 803cc Scrambler 2G range. This includes the Icon, Full Throttle, and Nightshift, with prices starting from Rs 10.39 lakh. These models are more popular and better suited for urban use.
Furthermore, Ducati is also working on new tech and updates for future bikes. The end of the 1100 might make way for fresher, cleaner, and more powerful machines.
