US President Trump’s tariff moves and the overall geopolitical environment are unlikely to significantly affect India’s MSMEs, and the country is better positioned than other global manufacturing nations, members of the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) said on Monday.
The Ambattur Industrial Estate exports around 30 per cent of its output, with about 10-12 per cent going to the US, said R.S.S. Satish Babu, President, AIEMA. He was also hopeful that RBI’s recent rate cut would help ease bank financing for MSMEs.
AIEMA executives were speaking at the launch of ACMEE 2025, an international machine tools show scheduled to be held from June 19-23 in Chennai. ACMEE 2025 will showcase the latest in machine tool technology aimed at helping industries modernize their production processes and improve competitiveness. Investment promotion will also be a key focus of the event. The theme for ACMEE 2025 is ‘Beyond Smart Manufacturing.’
Tamil Nadu accounts for a significant share of MSMEs in India — around 15 per cent — with a strong presence in sectors such as auto parts and components, pumps and motors, readymade garments, electronics, and leather and leather goods.
“We are organising ACMEE 2025 against the backdrop of a dynamic business environment, which is expected to generate significant interest from the industry. The exhibition will serve as a vital platform for entrepreneurs and start-ups to explore the latest advancements in machine tools and production technologies from across the globe,” said AIEMA’s Babu.
“ACMEE 2025 will have 468 participants spread across an exhibition area of 30,000 sqm in eight halls and will feature 120 international brands. We expect over 35,000 visitors from across India and neighbouring countries. ACMEE 2025 is expected to generate business worth ₹750 crore for exhibitors and others,” said P.S. Ramesh, Chairman, ACMEE 2025.
Companies from sectors such as machine tools, metal forming, laser technology, industrial robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital manufacturing are set to participate in ACMEE 2025. Among other pavilions and topics, an exclusive Finance Lounge is also being set up to help businesses secure financing for purchases made at the event.
