Clouded Leopard Entertainment will release Ys X: Proud Nordics for Switch 2 and PC via Steam on August 21 in Asia, the publisher announced. It will support Japanese audio and Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles. Users who already own the Clouded Leopard Entertainment-published version of Ys X: Nordics for PC will be able to purchase Ys X: Proud Nordics at a discounted price via the “Ys X Special Price Pack” until August 31.

■ New Features
New Story Set on Oland Island
As Adol and Karja continue exploring Obelia Bay aboard the Sandras sailing ship to battle the undead Griegr, they embark on a new investigation of the bay’s largest island, Oland Island. There, they encounter the “Shield Siblings,” Canute and Astrid, who hail from the Kingdom of Danmorc.
Why have the Normans—who are supposed to have a non-aggression pact with the Balta Navy—arrived in Obelia Bay now, of all times?
And what secrets are hidden on this island, once investigated by Grimson, leader of the Balta Navy?
Through the stories of these two pairs of “Shield Siblings,” players will uncover the origins of the Normans and the mysterious power known as Mana.
New Mana Action: “Mana Hold”
- Use the power of Mana to lift certain objects and launch them toward a targeted location.
- This special ability can be used in combat by weaponizing objects with built-in gimmicks, or in dungeons by creating footholds and opening new routes——making it an essential tool for exploration.
Mana Action Enhancements
By using a special item called “White Sand of Brilliance” found during gameplay, players can enhance various Mana Actions, including Mana Hold.
- Mana String – Increases damage dealt / movement speed.
- Mana Burst – Increases damage dealt / higher chance to inflict status ailments.
- Mana Ride – Increases damage dealt / reduces deceleration.
Mana Ride Challenges
- Take on terrain-based time trials across Öland Island using the Mana Ride action.
- Defeating rivals in these challenges may reward you with special items…
Bergen Arena
- As you progress through the story, you’ll unlock the Bergen Arena on Öland Island, where you can undergo Norman training (playable solo as either Adol or Karja).
- All opponents in the arena are formidable, but defeating them grants valuable rewards.
Muspelheim, the Divine Realm
- Once certain conditions are met, players can challenge Muspelheim, an expansive, high-difficulty dungeon.
- With a limited amount of time to explore, various gimmicks, and powerful enemies, Muspelheim offers the ultimate challenge. However, by using rare items called Deep Crystals, players can lift some of these limitations (e.g., extend active time or modify enemy abilities).
Golden Symbol / Unlocking Ocean Winds
- During naval exploration with the Sandras, a Golden Symbol may appear on the sea. Sailing into it triggers a Naval Battle, and victory unlocks a new Ocean Wind.
*Riding Ocean Winds significantly increases the Sandras’s sailing speed.

Canute Gamley (voiced by Daiki Hamano)
“Ugh, gimme a break. You’re saying there just aren’t as many fired-up Normans left anymore, huh?”
A sharp-featured young man from the Kingdom of Danmorc, Canute always seems listless and hard to pin down.
Despite his laid-back demeanor, he’s a first-rate warrior known as “Canute the Bloodshedder.” He’s also the son of Sver, the ruler of Danmorc, who is currently invading the Seven Kingdoms of Britai. He once fought alongside his cousin Karja during a campaign in Britai.
A brilliant tactician, he once saved the outnumbered Norman forces by devising a strategy that turned the tide of battle. Still, Karja has an inexplicable aversion to him
Astrid Zayren (voiced by Coco Hayashi)
“Sorry, Karja. Canute is always, always so blunt.”
A female Norman who serves as Canute’s Shield Sister and also his second-in-command. Though she does not possess the power of Mana,
she has sharp instincts and excels at logistical support.
Cheerful and friendly, she speaks to Adol and Karja with an open heart, but is often curt toward Canute—likely due to frequently having to deal with his difficult behavior.

Released in 2023 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Ys series, Ys X: Nordics is the latest mainline entry in the acclaimed action RPG franchise.
