It has no direct rivals, and will be the only hardcore adventure scooter in India
Honda India has officially teased the X-ADV 750 through its BigWing social media channels, just a day after launching the Honda Rebel 500. The teaser suggests that the launch could happen within the next few days, and Honda sells all its premium bikes (200cc and above) via exclusive BigWing dealerships.
A Unique Proposition
The Honda X-ADV 750 looks unlike anything currently sold in India. With its unconventional ‘Adventure Scooter’ design, it merges an adventure motorcycle with a maxi-scooter. It also gets a split headlamp, a tall windscreen, knuckle guards, and an upswept exhaust – all adding to its off-road aspirations. It will also be India’s first proper adventure scooter.
Powertrain
Powering the Honda X-ADV is a 745cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that makes 58.5PS at 6,750rpm and 69Nm of peak torque at 4,750rpm. It is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), which gets both manual and automatic operation. In manual mode, you can simply change gears by pressing the (+) or (-) buttons on the left switchgear.
Underpinnings
The X-ADV has a seat height of 820mm, ground clearance of 165mm, kerb weight of 237kg, a generous 22-litre underseat boot, and a 13.2-litre fuel tank. It gets a 17 (front) and 15-inch (rear) wheel setup, both wire-spoke and wrapped in block-pattern tubeless tyres. The front and rear suspension offer 153mm and 150mm of wheel travel, respectively. There are twin 296mm front discs and a 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS.
Features
The scooter comes equipped with all LED lighting, cruise control, keyless ignition, four riding modes: Sport, Standard, Rain, Gravel; a 5-inch full-colour TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation.
Expected Price
The Honda X-ADV 750 is expected to be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which will make it an expensive product. In the UK, the scooter is priced at €11,499 (around Rs 13 lakh), so it could cost around Rs 14-15 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. If our price guess is true, it will surpass the BMW C400 GT, currently India’s most expensive petrol-powered scooter at Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The X-ADV 750 will be available exclusively through Honda’s BigWing dealerships, focusing on select metro cities.
BikeDekho Says
The upcoming launch of the X-ADV 750, following the Rebel 500, gives us hope that Honda is finally taking the Indian market seriously. After years of dominating the commuter scooter market with models like the Activa and Dio, Honda now wants to tap into the premium segments (again) with global models. The X-ADV has no direct rivals in the Indian market and will appeal to a niche audience looking for an extremely unique-looking performance and lifestyle oriented scooter that is not only fairly practical but can also go off-road.
