TVS Ntorq 150 Launch Planned By Festive Season 2025, To Rival Yamaha Aerox, Hero Xoom 160 | BikeDekho TechTricks365

The sporty, premium 150-160cc scooter segment could get a new rival from TVS soon

Quick News Highlights

  • Launch date likely to be around the 2025 festive season

  • Will rival the Yamaha Aerox, Hero Xoom 160, and Aprilia SXR 160

  • Should be priced competitively

TVS Motor Company is reportedly looking to expand its Ntorq line-up with the addition of a new Ntorq 150. The launch could likely happen by the 2025 festive season, as per the online report. With the Ntorq 150, TVS aims to take on other popular 150-160cc scooters – a segment gradually but steadily growing. Currently this segment has the Yamaha Aerox, Hero Xoom 160 and the Aprilia SXR160.

Design

The TVS Ntorq 150 will mostly get similar sporty looks that the 125cc variant is known for, but in a bigger package. It could have aggressive lines, loud graphics, and striking colours – like its smaller sibling, the TVS Ntorq 125. The Ntorq 150 will likely feature 14-inch wheels at both ends, similar to its rivals – the Yamaha Aerox and the upcoming Hero Xoom 160.

Features

Like the Ntorq 125, the 150cc version will probably have an apron-mounted headlight and LED lighting all around, a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The sporty 150cc TVS scooter may have a single-channel ABS as the base variant and perhaps dual-channel ABS might be offered in a top variant. Afterall, the 125cc Ntorq is also available in multiple variants at different price points.

Engine

From the scooters mentioned above in the 150-160cc segment, only the SXR160 comes with an air-cooled engine, whereas the Yamaha and the Hero both get a liquid-cooled one. As of now, TVS has no liquid-cooled engine on any bike under 300cc. In our opinion, TVS could use either of two possible routes. It could use a re-bored, re-stroked version of the current 125cc Ntorq, or TVS might use a heavily modified, down-sized version of the current 159.7cc unit from the Apache 160. The latter seems too complicated to achieve for what at the end of the day is still a small segment. So logically speaking, using a bigger version of the 125cc engine makes sense both in terms of cost and time taken to develop the scooter. This is especially considering if the reported launch timeline happens to be true.

Pricing

TVS is known to keep the pricing competitive, as it did with the 125cc Ntorq. Similarly, the trend could continue with the Ntorq 150’s pricing likely to come in at the Rs 1.3 to Rs 1.4 lakh ex-showroom mark. This will help in undercutting the Yamaha Aerox, Hero Xoom 160, as well as the Aprilia SXR 160.

BikeDekho Says

The Ntorq 125 has been the highest-selling sporty scooter in the 125cc category ever since its release in 2018. Given the rising popularity of the 150-160cc scooter segment, with the offerings from Yamaha, Hero, and Aprilia – TVS believes it has a potential to steal market share with the Ntorq 150. The festive season launch will give a good timing entry, and the price of the model (if competitive) will also be a major reason for pulling consumers in.
