Quick News Highlights

  • Could be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh ex-showroom

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 has been spotted testing in India for the first time. This will be the first electric bike from the Chennai-based manufacturer. Judging by the images, we now have a decent idea of what we can expect from the electric bike. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 takes design inspiration from Flying Flea motorcycles from World War 2. The bike gets a neo-retro like-design and styling, combining a round LED headlight, fuel-tank shaped bodywork,  and most importantly, a girder fork. Royal Enfield has also done a pretty good job giving the bike a slim profile, which makes it look very similar to the original Flying Flea motorcycle.

The e-bike will feature full LED lighting, similar to the prototype that was unveiled before EICMA 2024. The bike will be powered by a mid-mounted motor, with a belt drive transmission. The battery pack is mounted under the “fuel tank”. So far, Royal Enfield has not revealed the motor and battery specifications. But we expect the bike to produce similar levels of performance as a 125cc to 150cc motorcycle

On the test mule, the battery pack and motor have been covered up with camouflage. During the bike’s unveiling we had seen that the battery pack gets cooling fins, which look similar to the ones that are used on air-cooled engines. This should enhance the retro look that Royal Enfield has been aiming for.

What really makes this bike feel authentically retro-looking is the underpinnings. In the Flying Flea’s case, the bike is suspended on a girder fork and a monoshock. Royal Enfield has given the Flea a hardtail look by neatly hiding the monoshock. Hardtail means that the bike doesn’t have a rear suspension, but in today’s age, this design is not very practical and has fallen out of favour.  Another interesting thing which we’ve noticed from the spy shots is the pillion seat. This is a neat addition, which will make the bike a lot more practical.

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 being tested in India is a welcome development. As we can see from the spyshots, the bike is nearing production and could be launched by mid-2026. The bike will be a premium offering from the brand, and could be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
