Report: Unannounced Blade Runner Game Canceled TechTricks365

A Blade Runner game called Time to Live was once in development but never officially announced—and now that title is no more. All that’s left are a few details about what might have been.

That’s according to Insider Gaming, which claims the project was in development with Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games. It was reportedly a character-focused action-adventure title where players would take on the role of So-Lange, the sole Blade Runner existing in 2065 “well beyond their limited lifespan.”

Pre-production allegedly began in late 2024, with several staff on 2023’s The Quarry involved. Had Supermassive gone into full production, the aim was for the game to release in fall 2027 for PC and current and next-gen consoles. Documents obtained by the outlet mention gameplay would’ve been a mix of stealth, action, exploration, and investigation, similar to Cyberpunk 2077 or the Deus Ex games.

What reportedly did Time to Live in was Alcon Entertainment, which owns the IP. The company allegedly canceled the project late last year, though a specific reason wasn’t given as to why; when asked, Supermassive told Insider Gaming it was “unable to comment.” io9 reached out to both it and Alcon, and the latter acknowledged “discussions” of a Blade Runner project last year that “did not proceed for business reasons.”

To date, Blade Runner has had three video games. The 1985 game was a shoot-em-up loosely inspired by the film, and the 1997 title was a point-and-click adventure. Then, 2018’s Revelations was a VR title from Seismic Games. A few years ago, Annapurna Interactive revealed it was developing Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, its first in-house game. However, that project’s status is unclear following the developer’s internal collapse in late 2024.

Whether Time to Live existed or not, Blade Runner has been gradually expanding into a larger franchise these past few years. In addition to the games, Prime Video has an upcoming TV series starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer.
