Swisslog and Medline collaboration results in new AutoStore installation in Aurora, Colorado TechTricks365

Swisslog, a provider of warehouse automation and software, says that long-time customer Medline will implement an AutoStore system optimized by Swisslog’s SynQ software within its Aurora, Colorado facility.

When completed, it will be the 24th AutoStore system installation since the two companies began working together more than a decade ago.

The new AutoStore deployment will support Medline’s ongoing efforts to optimize order fulfillment and enhance operational efficiency.

As a flexible, scalable solution, the Colorado installation will help Medline meet increasing product order demand, ensuring the efficient delivery of critical medical supplies.

Once operational, the system will include 94 robots, 8 induction workstations, and 10 picking workstations, all integrated with Swisslog’s powerful SynQ intralogistics software platform.

Sean Wallingford, president and CEO of Swisslog Americas, says: “Medline was the first company in North America to implement the AutoStore technology in 2013.

“Swisslog is proud of our partnership with Medline and honored that they continue to trust us to automate and support their facilities with state-of-the-art automation and software.

“This milestone deployment exemplifies how well our two teams are working together to transform the company’s supply chain, increasing fulfillment speed and operational capacity and flexibility.”

Daniel Schwartz, vice president of engineering at Medline, says: “AutoStore plays an important role in helping Medline service all points of care efficiently.

“The technology has particularly helped us enhance our pick rate, leading to an improvement in service quality.”

Medline’s more than 20 AutoStore installations across the country deploy 1,800 robots.

The company feels strongly that implementing the advanced automation and software across its supply chain network has improved pick rates by two to four times and plays a role in enabling next day delivery to 95 percent of US customers.

Angelica Chavez, director of operations for Medline’s Aurora distribution center, says: “This investment in our facility means that Medline is committed to expanding our work in the Denver area.

“With the aid of this technology, our team will be able to increase the speed of our deliveries and service offerings to healthcare providers throughout Colorado and its surrounding states.”
