Nintendo Reportedly Has ‘ThreePhase’ Launch Plan for the Switch 2 TechTricks365

According to insiders, Nintendo is planning a three-phase launch for the upcoming Switch 2 console and its first wave of games. Nintendo finally revealed its next mainline gaming console back in January, and now eager gamers are about a week away from finding out even more information about the Nintendo Switch 2. Aside from the console itself, not much was shown off during the system’s initial reveal, other than a glimpse at a new Mario Kart being developed for the Switch 2.

More Switch 2 titles will likely be revealed during the upcoming Nintendo Direct livestream on April 2, as well as more details like the Switch 2’s launch date. Rumors have suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch sometime in June or even May, and fans have speculated that its lineup of launch games could include a Zelda or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update alongside new Mario or Metroid games. The launch price of the Nintendo Switch 2 has also been subject to online rumors, which hint that the system might cost somewhere around $400 or $500.

Insider Gaming recently spoke to sources at this year’s annual Game Developers Conference about the Nintendo Switch 2, who claimed that the system will indeed launch sometime in June. Not only that, but Nintendo is supposedly planning a three-phase approach to its launch lineup, with the first stage focusing mainly on first-party Nintendo titles. The second phase will reportedly take place around October and November and coincide with third-party studios releasing their own Switch 2 titles. Lastly, the third and final phase of the Nintendo Switch 2’s initial launch will occur during this year’s holiday shopping season.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launch strategy wasn’t the only subject of these new rumors, as Nintendo is supposedly letting certain media and content creators try out the Switch 2 hardware and some of its first-wave launch titles for themselves during a special hands-on session next week. This would come around the same time as the Switch 2-centric Nintendo Direct livestream on April 2, where Nintendo will presumably answer many of the questions surrounding the system and its 2025 launch.

Until then, there is no way to know for sure if the information shared at Game Developers Conference 2025 is accurate, so gamers should take these claims with a grain of salt until the Switch 2 showcase next Wednesday. Meanwhile, Nintendo is reportedly hosting another Nintendo Direct livestream later this week, though this will likely be centered around the current Switch and other Nintendo products.
