Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore produced a witty reaction after Rajasthan Royals batter Nitish Rana after the latter was dismissed cheaply in their IPL 2025 encounter at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Nitish Rana was a part of the KKR squad from 2018 to 2024 until he was released last year. In fact, in 2023, Nitish Rana led KKR after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to injury.
Having bought for ₹4.20 crore, Nitish Rana is yet to settle in at Rajasthan Royals. After making just 11 runs in their campaign opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the left-hander from Uttar Pradesh once again fell cheaply, with English spinner Moeen Ali uprooting his off-stump. He managed just eight runs from nine balls.
Soon after the wicket of Nitish Rana, the camera panned towards the stands with Venky Mysore clapping while also having a witty smile on his face as his former skipper walked back to the dugout n disappointment.
KKR bowlers restrict Rajasthan Royals for 151/9
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals surrendered to KKR’s spin twins as the duo of Moeen Ali and Varun Chakaravarthy shared four wickets between them to turn the tables on their head. From 67/1 in the eighth over, Rajasthan Royals lost four wickets in four consecutive overs to totter at 110/6 in the 15th over. The 2008 champions could not recover from that.
While Moeen Ali finished with 4/23 on his debut for the three-time champions, Varun Chakaravarthy finished with 2/17. Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana also got two wickets each while Spencer Johnson got a wicket for KKR. Dhruv Jurel was the top run-getter for Rajasthan Royals with 33 off 28 balls.
