2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 & 1200 RS: Engine and Performance

The Speed Twin 1200 and RS models are powered by the same 1,200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. This engine has been modified and now has a sharper tune, a new cam, and a redline of 8,000 rpm. It produces 112 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm and 103.5 bhp at 7,750 rpm. Alongside the engine of the Speed Twin 1200 series, both models share a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. In contrast, the RS version is unique as it is the only Triumph neo-retro model to include a bi-directional quickshifter.

Design and Features

In terms of appearance, the 2025 Speed Twin 1200 is essentially the same as the previous versions. They have stylistic features like the slim tail lamp, bench seat, and round headlamp. Additionally, the updated fuel tank and the Trident 660 LCD unit are one of the few small design improvements. A USB-C charging port is also included with the bikes.

Three colour options are available for the Speed Twin 1200: aluminium silver, two dual-tone colours (Carnaval Red/Sapphire Black, and Crystal White/Sapphire Black). However, the RS version comes in two liveries: Sapphire Black and a Sapphire Black/Baja Orange dual-tone.

Specifications

The Speed Twin 1200 RS has high-quality parts that guarantee superior handling and performance. To start, it has a Marzocchi front fork that is completely adjustable and has preload adjustment for more comfortable rides. Additionally, improved comfort and stability are provided with twin Ohlins RSU shock absorbers in the back. Its Brembo Stylema callipers and twin 320mm front discs provide excellent stopping force. Furthermore, a single 220mm rear disc also provides reliable rear braking.

However, the standard Speed Twin 1200’s cycle components are less complicated. It has dual rear shock absorbers from Marzocchi with preload adjustability and a 43mm fork that is not adjustable. The Speed Twin 1200 has four-piston callipers that operate on dual 320mm discs up front and single disc down back. It is mounted on Metzeler M9RR tyres.
