From CTOs to general managers, here are the five most significant executive departures at Broadcom this year that you should know about.
Broadcom has lost three top executives and leaders from its Enterprise Security Group this year as the company continues to evolve its VMware, Symantec and Carbon Black businesses.
The $75 billion Palo Alto, Calif.-based tech giant also lost a top engineering leader for its VMware Cloud Foundation (VFC) division and its chief technology officer for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).

Broadcom Q1 2025 Earnings
Before looking at the five biggest Broadcom executive departures this year, here’s a quick look at the company’s recent first quarter 2025 earnings results.
Broadcom generated $14.9 billion during the first quarter, which bested Wall Street’s expectations of $14.62 in total sales. The $14.9 billion in revenue represents a 25 percent year-over-year increase compared to approximately $12 billion during Q1 2024.

Broadcom’s net income increased a whopping 315 percent to $5.5 billion in Q1 2025 compared to $1.3 billion year over year.
In terms of VMware and VCF, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said he’s focused on “upselling customers to a full-stack VCF,” which enables the entire data center to be virtualized to let customers create their own private cloud environment on-prem.
“As of the end of Q1, approximately 70 percent of our largest 10,000 customers have adopted VCF,” he said.
Here are five top Broadcom leaders who have left this year.
Thomas Thorpe
Former Broadcom Position: Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, Enterprise Security Group
Years At Broadcom/Symantec: 8
Thomas Thorpe spent several years as vice president and chief revenue officer (CRO) for Broadcom’s Enterprise Security Group.
He was the go-to-market leader for Broadcom’s vast security portfolio, which included Symantec and Carbon Black solutions. He was in charge of $1.1 billion in active contracts and had hundreds of global team members across the globe, including direct and channel leaders, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“I wish everyone at Broadcom Enterprise Security Group, the custodians of Symantec and Carbon Black technologies, every success for the future,” Thorpe said on a LinkedIn post in March.
Prior to Symantec, Thorpe had held top executive roles at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Westcon and Blue Coat Systems.
His next position is unknown at this time. “After nearly eight years at Symantec/Broadcom, it’s time to change the photo and look forward to the next chapter,” he said.
Peter Cooper
Former Broadcom Position: Head Of Corporate and Commercial Markets, Enterprise Security Group
Years At Broadcom/Symantec: 13
Broadcom and Symantec’s longtime EMEA partner leader Peter Cooper left the company last month as head of corporate and commercial markets, and managed partners for its Enterprise Security Group.
“Today marks my final day with Broadcom after eight years and three months,” Cooper said on LinkedIn in March. “I had the privilege of working with some of the most inspiring people, and Symantec proved to be an exhilarating company. True legends were born in the sales teams, taking average deals sizes from hundreds to thousands and then to tens of millions.”
At Broadcom, Cooper was responsible for the company’s Aggregation Model Commercial for the Enterprise Security Group, with a focus on transforming the traditional distribution model, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Prior to Broadcom acquiring Symantec, he was Symantec’s EMEA global system integrator (GSI) leader.
“To some of the best skilled and knowledgeable partners that have had the pleasure to sit with, that supported the rebuilding of the Symantec brand, engaged in winning clients over and had fun with us—many, many thanks,” he said.
Cooper also held top executive roles at CA Technologies, Kaspersky Lab and Intel Security. His next position is unknown at this time.
Aswathy Ramabhadran
Former Broadcom Position: Head of Engineering, VCF Operations, VFC Division
Years At Broadcom/VMware: 17
Aswathy Ramabhadran is a longtime VMware engineer, holding the title of director of research development for VMware prior to merging with Broadcom.
Ramabhadran was head of engineering for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) operations for Broadcom’s VCF division. She led the development of VFC Ops core platform and helped with the technical vision for the entire software team, according to her LinkedIn profile.
In total, she spent approximately 17 years at Broadcom-VMware before departing in 2025.
In March, she joined enterprise accounting software firm Xero as an engineering lead.
Vinod Joseph
Former Broadcom Position: CTO of APJ (Asia-Pacific and Japan)
Years At Broadcom/VMware: 7
Vinod Joseph played a critical role at both VMware and Broadcom over the years by leading both companies’ innovation charge overseas as CTO.
Joseph was CTO of APJ and China for VMware’s telco and edge business for years before Broadcom bought VMware in 2023, with a focus on providing solutions for cloud service providers and deploying new revenue generating services, according to his LinkedIn.
At Broadcom, he was CTO of APJ for the company’s software-defined edge and AI business.
“After close to 7 years across various roles – I moved on from VMware in February this year,” he said on LinkedIn in March. “I had the opportunity to lead some of the largest and extremely critical engagements with our key Telco customers around multi-cloud adoption, app modernization, telco network transformation, and the insertion of AI for numerous use-cases including the edge.”
“There were many first of its kind, where we jointly pioneered key technology innovations with our partners and customers,” Joseph said.
Joseph was hired by one of Asia’s top telco giants, Singtel, as its new vice president of cloud and enterprise architecture.
Rob Greer
Former Broadcom Position: General Manager and Vice President, Enterprise Security Group
Years At Broadcom: 5
Cybersecurity standout Rob Greer previously led Broadcom’s Enterprise Security Group as general manager and vice president, before leaving for cybersecurity firm ExtraHop this year.
Greer oversaw the merging of Broadcom’s Carbon Black with the Symantec businesses last year, which created the company’s Enterprise Security Group.
“I have made the tough decision to leave Broadcom where I have spent the past 5 years. It has been a once in a lifetime business, product and organizational transformation experience starting with Symantec and culminating with Carbon Black,” said Greer on LinkedIn announcing his departure.
In 2019, he joined Broadcom as vice president of the information security group for Symantec by Broadcom.
Greer is a longtime top cybersecurity executive with decades of experience, including being Forescout Technologies’ former CTO, as well as key roles at network security organizations like HP Tipping Point, Blue Coat Systems and SonicWall.
Earlier this year, Greer became the new CEO of network detection and response (NDR) specialist ExtraHop.
