Even though it’s cheaper than the top-end variant, the DT SXC variant gets all the practical features
TVS recently launched a new variant of the TVS Jupiter 125. The new DT SXC (Dual-Tone SmartXonnect) variant is priced at Rs 88,942 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is offered in two colour schemes: Ivory Brown and Ivory Grey. TVS has added a lot of features to the scooter and it offers a lot more convenience and practicality than the lower variants but without the hefty price tag of the top-end SmartXonnect variant. We explain all the features the new TVS Jupiter 125 variant gets:
A New Fully Digital Instrument Console
The TVS Jupiter 125 DT SXC comes with a new fully-digital LCD instrument console that is easy to read. The instrument console is well-laid out, and in our opinion, looks even more premium than the top-end variant’s split TFT display. It gets smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation along with call and SMS alerts that make it very suitable for day-to-day usage. It does miss out on some more geeky features like the voice-assisted navigation, cricket score and weather alerts among others, but we think it is not really a deal-breaker. Additionally, the console is also equipped with real-time and average mileage indicators – these come in handy to keep an eye on the scooter’s mileage.
TVS iGo Assist With Start-Stop Function
The new variant also comes with TVS’ iGo assist, a hybrid system which consists of an integrated starter generator. This device is essentially a silent starter for noiseless starts. It also doubles up as an electric motor, giving the petrol-powered engine a small boost when accelerating.
Additionally, it also includes a start-stop function to give the scooter better mileage by shutting off the engine when it idles in traffic for some time. A twist of the throttle (while holding the brake) brings the engine back to life.
Redesigned Seat And Pillion Backrest
The new variant also gets a slightly redesigned seat with brown coloured seat covers that go well with the scooters colour schemes. It also gets the back rest from the top-end variant as standard for more pillion comfort.
Other Notable Features
The new DT SXC Jupiter 125 comes with an LED headlamp and taillamp, along with hazard lights and follow me headlamps that stay on for some time even after the scooter is switched off – for added convenience. It gets a side-stand engine cut-off function too. Interestingly, the DT SXC variant is the only one to get a brown seat cover, which even the top-end variant does not have. It also comes with a cushioned pillion backrest (that was earlier standard only in the top-end variant). This really helps in keeping the pillion secure, while supporting the lower back as well.
Also, for safety, it gets a front petal disc brake with CBS (Combined Braking System) as standard. It also gets a 33-litre underseat storage that is already the largest in its segment, along with a 2-litre cubby hole with a USB charging port next to it. We think a lockable cubby hole would have made more sense as your phone may get tossed-off when going over bad roads.
Bikedekho Says
The TVS Jupiter 125 already was a decent family-scooter that had enough performance, good mileage and practicality. But, it missed out on modern features in its lower variant, while the top-end variant costs significantly more. But now with the DT SXC variant, TVS has solved the issue as it offers fantastic value for money while coming with useful, practical features. So you don’t really need to spend extra to get the top-end variant.
