Triumph is preparing to introduce a new variant of its popular Scrambler 400X, called the Scrambler 400 XC. The bike has been spotted testing again without any camouflage – with several upgrades focused on enhancing its off-road capability. Expected to be launched soon, this new model will be positioned above the standard Scrambler 400X.
Tubeless Spoke Wheels
The bike was spotted earlier in February 2025 as well. The biggest change that stands out on the Scrambler 400XC is the addition of spoke wheels. While the wheels themselves are new, Triumph seems to have retained the existing wheel sizes with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear. These wheels can accommodate tubeless tyres, so they can handle punctures much better than tubed tyres. The spoke wheels will also help in absorbing the bumps better while going off-road. In comparison, alloys tend to either deform or break when they go over very sharp bumps.
Design
The upcoming model also introduces a new yellow paint scheme with black graphics. Additional styling elements include a high-mounted beak front mudguard and a windscreen, both in the same colour – expected to be offered as standard fitment on the 400XC. Both of these are optional accessories for the Scrambler 400X. The test mule also gets an upper and lower engine guard combo, aluminum bash-plate, knuckle-guards, and tank grips – all offered as standard in the 400X.
Engine
The new Scrambler variant will continue to use the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the Speed 400 and the 400X. It delivers 40PS at 8,000rpm, 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, and is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The Speed gets a 15 tooth front sprocket, while the Scrambler gets a 14 tooth for better acceleration with a slight compromise on top-speed.
Features
The bike will likely retain the Off-road mode from the 400X, which allows riders to switch off the traction control and rear ABS. This will help get better control of the bike while going off-road.
Expected Price And Launch Timeline
With all these new upgrades, the bike might carry a price premium of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 over the standard model – which is currently priced at Rs 2,66,449 (ex-showroom). We can expect the launch of the motorcycle sometime this year, likely in the festive season, around October 2025.
BikeDekho Says
The Scrambler 400XC is shaping up to be a more off-road capable and rugged version of an already versatile motorcycle. With the growing popularity of entry level adventure and scrambler bikes in India, Triumph’s upcoming offering appears to be well timed. It will also be the most affordable scrambler motorcycle with spoke wheels from Triumph, after the Scrambler 900.
