Two of the best 125cc family scooters in India compared
Suzuki recently updated its best-selling family scooter the Access 125 with a TFT display, available in the top-spec Ride Connect TFT Edition. Priced at Rs 1,01,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), this variant directly competes with the Honda Activa 125 Smart variant. Let’s compare the specifications of these two family scooters:

They offer good performance for city usage along with enough grunt for the occasional highway runs. These japanese scooters are also known for being super refined and reliable as well.

The Activa 125 gets a preload adjustable rear monoshock, which is versatile, as the rider will be able to tune the rear suspension according to the load. They use a front disc and rear drum brake setup with enough braking power for the kind of performance these scooters offer. Both of these scooters get a 12-inch front wheel with similar tyre size – good enough for Indian roads.

The Access 125 gets a much longer seat when compared to the Activa 125, which should help in better overall rider and pillion comfort – at least when it comes to being roomy enough. Both of these scooters get 1260mm of wheelbase which means, there should not be any major difference in terms of the overall straight line stability of these scooters.
At 105kg and 106kg, these scooters are fairly light and there should not be any issue while riding them in heavy traffic conditions. The main highlight here is that the Access 125 gets a much bigger 24.4-litre underseat storage which makes it a lot more practical.

The new Ride Connect TFT variant of the Access 125 gets a 4.2-inch TFT display just like the Activa 125. Both of these displays show all the necessary information and support smartphone connectivity along with SMS/call alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls and weather updates. This TFT display offers a slightly better viewing experience than normal LCD screens.
The Activa 125 Smart variant gets a smart key which allows for keyless lock/unlock feature and also helps in locating the scooter in a crowded parking. They get CBS (Combined Braking System) as standard which should help in a much safer braking experience. Other common features include a USB charging port and engine Stop Start feature to save fuel.

We have compared the top-spec variant of these family scooters and the Suzuki Access 125 Ride Connect TFT variant happens to be Rs 2,226 more expensive than the Honda Activa 125 Smart. While the price difference is not that much, it comes down to what you really need. If you require a scooter with good practicality, and are willing to ignore the keyless convenience, then the Access 125, with its larger boot space and two cubby holes and longer seat will be the ideal choice. Otherwise, the Activa 125 makes sense for those who wouldn’t mind the slightly smaller boot space.
