From a more off-road focused ADV to a powerful Italian naked, here’s everything you can get
Kawasaki India has launched the 2025 Versys-X 300 in India, at a price of Rs 3,79,900 (ex-showroom). Now, if you’re someone who is looking for a bike in the Rs 3.5 lakh to 4 lakh range and are not really impressed by the Versys X-300, then worry not. Our list includes everything from a more off-road focused ADV to a powerful naked bike:
KTM 390 Adventure
Price: Rs 3,67,699 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The KTM 390 Adventure is a really good option for those who are looking for a powerful, off-road focused ADV. The 390 Adventure has a lot going for it, and the first thing which stands out is the sleek-looking Dakar inspired design.
The bike also offers really good performance with the new 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 46PS and 39Nm. This is a significant improvement compared to the Versys-X 300’s 296cc parallel twin engine which outputs 40PS and 25.7Nm.
The 390 Adventure also gets adjustable suspension, along with a ton of features including cruise control. The addition of cruise control enhances the bike’s touring capabilities as well. So overall, the 390 Adventure is a complete package which can handle off-road riding as well as long distance touring.
Yamaha R3
Price: Rs 3,59,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Riding off-road is fun, but for some, nothing replaces the thrill of the track and twisties. For this, the Yamaha R3 is the perfect weapon. The bike is powered by a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which outputs 42PS and 29.5Nm.
The engine is quite rev-happy, producing most of its power at the higher end of the rpm range. This should make it quite fun while riding in the track, and even in the twisies. The engine is also very refined and offers a smooth riding experience too. That said, the Yamaha R3 is a bit basic in terms of features and even misses out on a slip-and-assist clutch.
If you’re someone who is looking for a relatively powerful supersport which can also double up as a reliable sports touring bike, then the Yamaha R3 is an option worth considering.
Aprilia Tuono 457
Price: Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra)
The Aprilia Tuono 457 is the cheapest twin-cylinder Italian bike you can buy in India. The Tuono 457 is the naked streetfighter sibling of the Aprilia RS 457 supersport. Unlike other Tuono bikes in Aprilia’s lineup, the Tuono 457 stands out with a completely different yet likeable styling.
The bike is powered by the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the Aprilia RS 457. The motor produces 47.6PS and 43.5Nm, same as the Aprilia RS 457 but with some changes. The bike gets a slightly larger rear-sprocket which results in an increased bottom-end grunt, suiting the bike’s streetfighter character.
The wide handlebars and upright riding position makes this bike a lot more accessible compared to the RS 457. Add in the grippy TVS EuroGrip Protorq Extreme tyres, and you have an absolutely fun cornering machine. If you’re someone who is looking to get a big bike down the line, the Tuono 457 will be a good stepping stone in that journey.
Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650
Price: Rs 3,68,085
Zipping through corners and performing jumps offroad is fun, but there’s a kind of tranquility and peace that only cruisers offer. In this regard, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the best option in this price range.
The bike looks like a proper retro American-style cruiser, with its design, wide handlebars and laid-back riding posture. Powering the bike is Royal Enfield’s 648cc, air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine which produces 47PS and 52.3Nm.
The engine is quite refined, and can easily cruise at triple-digit highway speeds. Out of all the bikes currently available in the 650cc segment, the Super Meteor 650 stands out as the only authentically retro cruiser. It is perfect for those who are looking to munch miles on the highway.
KTM 390 Enduro R
Price: Rs 3,38,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Now, the KTM 390 Adventure is a really good adventure bike which can handle both road and offroad riding quite well. But some riders may really want to get down and dirty with a motorcycle that’s more purpose-built for off-roading. The KTM 390 Enduro R is exactly that.
Compared to the KTM 390 Adventure, the Enduro R ditches the fairing and fancy bits and instead goes for a simpler design that can take a beating. The bike gets a sleek looking headlight setup, along with a smaller TFT console.
It is 5kg lighter than the Adventure, with the kerb weight coming to 177kg. This might not feel like a big change on paper, but while riding offroad, it makes a lot of difference. The motorcycle gets the same 399cc engine as the 390 Adventure and produces 46PS and 39Nm. But it gets a larger rear-sprocket for more bottom-end grunt. If you’re looking for a serious road-legal off-roader then the 390 Enduro R is the bike for you.
